ANTOINE PHELOUZAT

Designer’s Perspective

For a designer, designing an office chair is highly exciting and challenging. It is a product where function, technology and ergonomics meet to deliver a superior seating experience and enhance the image. I have used my insights of new age materials, design culture rooted in Europe and built this chair on Godrej Interio’s legacy of outstanding ergonomics. The outcome is ACE -- the chair for the workspaces of tomorrow.

About Antoine Phelouzat

Graduating from the University for the Creative Arts in England, Antoine Phelouzat -- a Paris-based designer -- obtained a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Interior Architecture in 1997 and a Master’s of Arts degree in product design in 2001. After working with brands such as Karen Millen and Diesel; collaborating with designers like Tom Dixon and Michael Young, he went on to start his own creative studio in 2005. In 2007 he joined forces with Godrej & Boyce Manufacturing to launch the ACE chair, which was launched in 2010 at Neocon, Chicago. In addition to his designs, Antoine Phelouzat has taught design at the Higher Institute of Applied Art in Paris from 2007 to 2010. He also runs workshops on design, innovation and sustainable development. He sees himself as an intermediary between makers and users. He loves being in contact with materials and those who work with them. Beyond tradition, it is the mutation of knowledge that interests him.
